Management
- Howard Golden: Mr. Golden is responsible for Terra's management overview and investment policy. He is a recognized expert on Capital Markets in Transition Economies, has published widely (Mr. Golden's qualifications) and lectures frequently around the world. As a part of implementing his activist approach, Mr. Golden has served as a member of Board of Directors numerous boards and is still the Chairman of the Board of an AIM listed venture capital company, twoFrankfurt listed Emerging Market Funds and an unlisted closed end fund.
Before founding Terra, Mr. Golden practiced law in Chicago, New York and Israel. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a B.A., J.D. and M.B.A. and is a member of the bar associations in New York State, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Israel. He is fluent in English and Hebrew, and is knowledgeable in Czech.
Yarden Mariuma, CFA: Director of WWOF and the Chief Analyst of Terra, Mr. Mariuma seeks out market anomalies and other opportunities worldwide, and is responsible for implementing the investments. He is a leading expert on Romanian politics and investments in the Balkans and has published numerous articles in Romanian newspapers and given dozens of presentations over the years.
Prior to joining Terra, Mr. Mariuma was the Romanian Country Manager for The Quadrant Group, a money management firm with offices in New York City and Bucharest. Among his responsibilities was the management of two Romanian manufacturing operations, and being the buy-side deal locator and analyst for Soros South Eastern Europe Fund. He generated and managed investments generating an estimated IRR of more than 45% in a difficult economic environment
Prior to joining Quadrant, Mr. Mariuma was a principal and Managing Director of a private merchant banking and analytical firm which performed private equity analysis for funds. Mr. Mariuma previously worked as the compliance manager and broker for a Wall Street brokerage firm, trading large blocks of illiquid, difficult stocks and he ran compliance checks on NASDAQ private equity transactions. Mr. Mariuma has a Series 7 Stockbroker and Series 24 Compliance Manager certificate and has passed the first test of the CFA series. He is fluent in English, Hebrew, and Romanian, has a good working knowledge of French, Arabic, and Spanish and is capable of dealing in German and Greek.
Filip Montfort: A Czech national, Mr. Montfort is a Director of WWOF and of Terra. He has a Master's in Business Administration, with distinction, from The Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business of DePaul University, Chicago, a Master's degree in law from Charles University, Prague and a Bachelor's degree in International Trade from the Faculty of International Relations University of Economics, Prague.
Prior to joining Terra as a principal, Mr. Montfort was Chief Legal and Economic Advisor to the Euro-Czech Forum, the Association of Chambers of Commerce of Britain, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Sweden, a position he took after serving as the Legal and Political Advisor to the Delegation of the European Commission to the Czech Republic. Mr. Montfort has also served as a Director of an Irish listed investment fund focusing on Asia.
Filip Montfort is fluent in English, Czech, Slovak and Italian. He also serves as General Counsel and Managing Director of Terra Partners, s.r.o. the administrator of WWOF.
